I definitely think the weather is starting to turn in Chihuahua Town as it’s seemed much more chilly the last couple of days and the Pappersley Wowas have taken to sleeping in their beds next to the radiators! I have some more sad news this week – you may have seen me report on Naomi Hosker’s Chihuahua Skye, who, at the age of 5, had done very well at agility, making it to Grade 7. Last weekend, Skye suddenly passed away following on from a back injury. Naomi is absolutely devastated at this loss, and I so hope that her heart can heal enough to maybe let another Chihuahua in to her life to continue to fly the breed flag in agility. Our thoughts and prayers are very much with Naomi at such a sad and difficult time.
Last weekend was Belfast. It’s one I keep meaning to do but the jaunt across the water during term time has thus far put me off! Quite a number of exhibitors are also away on holiday at the moment which didn’t help entries. Longs were judged by Michael Gadsby who found his DCC in Nicolas Alarion’s Int Ch Legend Harry De L’Isle Au Vert Coteau, RDCC was Kirstie Price’s Bramver’s Teiou of Kircyan (Imp JPN), BCC and BOB was McKenna’s Ismirelle’s Dance in the Dark at Chantico, RBCC Kirstie’s Bramver’s Fortune Garden of Kircyan (Imp JPN) and BP Horsley’s Hushabye Once Upon a Dream NAF.
Smooths were judged by C A Ahern, but had no tickets, which likely contributed to the low entry. BD and BOB was O’Sullivan’s Taradona Artful Dodger of Narinchi, RBD Kirstie Price’s Torre Del Pilar Crackerjack of Kircyan (Imp Esp), BB Henry and McDonagh’s Fanabe Erna at Pepeetolynn and RBB Jenny Buoey’s Sweetpanache Maleficent.
News from the open shows:
At Phwlheli Leana Evans’ Ritagold Ice Warrior at Lemaritz ShCM went BOB and G3 in the smooths. In the longs, the same owners Lemaritz Liberty Belle went BPIB and PG4. At Buckinghamshire Susan Slavinec’s Charonchi Tilly Trotter went BOB and G4 under Stuart Smith. At Yarmouth Gorleston Mary-Kate Ingram’s Parisland Pans Little Man went BPIB and PG2.
I am very grateful to Mairi Austin for sending me the results from Merseyside Toy Dog (twice, because somehow the first lot of photos deleted themselves from my Messenger!). Both coats were judged by Anne Halls, her first Chihuahua judging appointment, and she had on hand super gifts of engraved glass trophies for the principle winners in each coat. She also drew a fantastic entry of 21 longs and 24 smooths. In the longs, BOB was Dorothy Entwistle’s Dorenty’s Fancy That, RBOB was Lorraine Daly’s Lozmarchi Macs Midnight and BPIB was Joan Waterworth’s Barwater Miss Marple. In the smooths BOB was Serena Hunt’s Valenchino Mocking Jay for Moltobello JW SHCM, RBOB was Lesley Taylor’s Arkoschi Miss Prim N Proper and BPIB was Diane Fothergill’s Diamonchi Little Miss Star. In the AV Veteran, Mairi’s Ch Marichis Blossom JW VW won the class and went on to be awarded Best Veteran in Show under judge Nick Gourley. Very well done!
I don’t have any news from Ireland to report on this week (probably because you were all at Belfast so there weren’t any!)
Our Dogs has published their current Top Breeders; Christine Minton for longs and Nicolas Alarion for smooths. I’ll continue to report on the Our Dogs leader boards as they appear.
Entries for SWKA are longs 70/75 and smooths 39/43.
